F.A.Q.

Must Haves:

      • 6-8′ leash and collar or slip leash
      • Treats (think high value, like boiled chicken)
      • Latest shot records

Good to Have:

      • Clicker
      • Treat pouch
      • Favorite Toy
      • Crate

Much like you get paid by your employer to do the correct work, your dog should get paid to do the correct behaviors.  That payment comes in the form of motivators.  The frequency of reinforcement will diminish but never go away.  It’s not about getting rid of the treats, it’s more about making sure foundation behaviors stay strong and these behaviors become inherently motivating for the dog.

We feel that you can never interact with your dog too much.  How often you train really depends on your schedule and life.  We recommend you train for 10 minutes 3-4 times per week utilizing your pet’s meal.  That plus your 1 hour training class per week will have you seeing results in no time!

This really depends on how often you train your dog and how those training sessions are conducted. It will take time to learn how to train your dog and will take more than one session for you to pick up the knowledge needed to train complex behaviors.  Therefore we encourage you to learn by doing, training regularly and often, to see results in no time!

Trick training helps build a reinforcement history with your dog and improve both your skills and the relationship you and your dog share.  When your dog sees you as everything great, they are more likely to want to engage with you and will be easier to teach new behaviors.
